**Free Gunlocks**

As a firerms owner, it is your responsibility to know how to properly handle any firearm you own and also know how to secure your firearm(s) in a safe manner in your home. Project Childsafe has been created to help you accomplish these important safety goals.

The La Verne Police Department will provide free gunlocks to La Verne residents through a partnership with Project Childsafe, a nationwide firearms safety education program. The locks fit on most types of handguns, rifles, and shotguns. The goal of this program is to prevent a child or unauthorized person from operating a firearm in your home. The gunlocks will be available at the front counter of the Police Department during business hours while supplies last. This program is funded by the United States Department of Justice.
